After a great first day, I thought of why yesterday had been so good for me. The only bad thing I can think of that happened that day, was when I first met my class and became dumb. It took me a while to think of why I was so afraid of the students at first…I remembered entering the room. The students were having circle time. Then it hit me. THEY WERE SINGING NURSERY RHYMES.
Singing and Dancing is probably the biggest problems I have right now. I’d take washing up poopsies or vomit any day. Well, not really, but I really prefer not to sing or dance in front of anyone simply because it just isn’t my cup of tea. I expect myself to overcome this “problem” in a few weeks… I’ve seen a lot of people do it in class, and it doesn’t really look too hard. Singing and Dancing in front of the kids shouldn’t make it any harder :)

It was only a matter of time until I made a mistake. As far as I know, I made a huge mistake on the second day, when I was assisting one of the hyperactive kids in my class. After making some progress assisting him the day before, I made the mistake of holding his hand while counting with him… Instead of allowing him to work on his own. Spoon feeding never yields any good results (Trust me, I know ;) ) no matter what or whom you are teaching.

I end this post with something an incentive Teachers enjoy, the perks of Teaching, so to speak: “Treats from students” (Not sure what to call it :|)
It’s only my first week of practice teaching, and I have enjoyed two food treats :). On my second day, one of my students celebrated his birthday and to end the week, a student treated the teachers to lunch because he would be migrating soon. This isn’t the reason why I chose to major in education, but it certainly something I will enjoy :)
